Set a Residual Risk Score against a Hazard

Estimated reading: 1 minute

Residual risk is the remaining risk that exists after all additional controls have been implemented or exhausted.

Skip steps 1 and 2 if you have just added an additional control to a hazard.

1. On the Risk Assessment homepage, click the Hazards tab.

2. Click Click to Set in the Residual Risk column of your chosen hazard.

3. In the View Hazard popup, click Set Residual Risk.

4. Use the drop-down menus to select your residual risk score.

5. Click Confirm. Your residual risk will now appear alongside your original risk rating.

During the periodic review of a risk assessment, this residual risk can be merged to become the actual risk rating. This will move the additional controls into the existing control description while leaving an audit trail of the initial risk value.
