Merge the Residual Risk score

Estimated reading: 1 minute

Residual risk is the remaining risk that exists after all additional controls have been implemented or exhausted.

During the periodic review of a risk assessment, this residual risk can be merged to become the actual risk rating. This will move the additional controls into the existing control description while leaving an audit trail of the initial risk value.

1. On the Risk Assessment homepage, click the Hazards tab.

2. Click the Merge Residual Risk icon on the right.

You will need to have changed the Status for the existing additional controls from Pending to Complete.

You can also merge the residual risk from within the View Hazards popup. Click Merge Residual Risk.

3. Your new existing controls will display in the text box. This compiles the text from your existing controls with additional controls, and you can amend this now if needed.

4. Click Merge. This will update the risk rating for the hazard.

TIP: Continue to add further additional controls and residual risk ratings, if there’s further improvements that can be made to how your organisation manages the risk.

You can view a log of any score changes within the Risk Assessment history.
