Managing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) in your account

This guide is written for Super-users in LUS.

Account Super-users have the ability to add, modify and deactivate users in their LUS account from the User Management page. They can now also see and manage the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) status of users in the account.

MFA adds an layer of security to each user account, helping to safeguard your organisation’s data. By enabling MFA, users must verify their identity using a temporary code, as well as their password. Super-users have the ability to manage their own MFA settings and see the MFA status of other users in their account.

Viewing User MFA Status

On the User Management page, Super-users have an overview of each user’s MFA status, you will see icons next to each user’s profile that indicate their MFA status:

  • No MFA setup: Shows an open padlock icon indicating no MFA enabled.
  • Authenticator App: A code icon indicates the user is using an authenticator app for MFA.
  • Email MFA: A mail icon shows that the user is using email-based MFA.

This visibility allows you to quickly verify which users in your account have enabled MFA and through which method.

Resetting MFA for users

If a user experiences issues with their MFA setup, you can reset their MFA credentials to allow them to set it up again. This can be done by:

  • Clicking the dropdown menu next to the user’s profile on the User Management page.
  • Selecting Reset MFA. This will prompt the user to configure their MFA again upon their next login.

Setting up MFA on your own user account

Add MFA to your own user account by going to the User Menu (in the top right corner of the page) and clicking My Profile.

To make MFA mandatory for all users in your account

If you want to make sure that all users in your account are using MFA, get in touch with us (by email to [email protected]) and we can make MFA mandatory in your account.

From that point all users in your account will be made to setup MFA on their next login.
